Ok, winter, we’re just about done with you. Ushering in the spring season with vibrant colors and fabrics that can handle the heat is our eQua Collection. And who better to showcase it than beauties Melissa Eckman and Danielle Karuna?
From our SOLite fabrics that provide extra moisture-wicking for super hot classes to our artist-designed eQua series with a microfiber towel fused onto a rubber mat, the eQua collection caters to all your hot yoga (and style) needs.
Here’s what Melissa and Danielle love about it, plus why they think hot yoga is so, well, hot these days...
HOW DOES THE EQUA MAT HELP IMPROVE YOUR HOT YOGA PRACTICE?
Melissa: I LOVE hot yoga because it’s cleansing, challenging and calming. With this mat, I don't have to worry about slipping and I can just focus on my intention for class with zero distractions.
HOW IMPORTANT IS ARTWORK TO YOU WHEN CHOOSING A MAT?
Danielle: I think it's really important to have a mat that speaks to you. You develop an intimate relationship with your mat so you want it to be something you look forward to seeing. If it's beautiful or inspiring, it can motivate you to get on your mat that much more often to do the good work.
WHICH KINDS OF BENEFITS DOES HOT YOGA OFFER THAT OTHER PRACTICES DON'T?
Melissa: Hot yoga allows your body to get warm quickly, which allows for more flexibility and deeper poses. I love an evening hot yoga class after a long day - I go to Modo Yoga or Set and Flow by my house in West Hollywood.
WHEN YOU GO TO YOGA, WHAT ARE YOUR MUST-HAVES?
Melissa: My eQua mat, cork blocks (I can't practice without them), two hair ties, a water bottle and my hand-sized eQua towel to dry off my face and shoulders.
HOW DO YOU PRACTICE SAFELY DURING HOT YOGA?
Danielle: I listen to my body always. Although I've been teaching for nearly a decade, I just started teaching hot yoga a little more than a year ago. The heat adds a whole different element to the practice and I believe you need to go slowly. You want to leave the class both invigorated and relaxed, not delirious and depleted.
