  • Use & Care

To Clean: All eKO series mats can be cleaned by wiping down the mat with Manduka’s Natural Rubber Mat Wash. It is recommended that you DO NOT put your eKO mat in the washing machine, as it will encourage the material to break down. DO NOT soak or submerge in water and DO NOT use any type of soap for cleaning, as it will compromise the performance and integrity of the mat.

To Store: Do not leave the mat exposed to direct sunlight. If wet, allow the mat to dry before rolling up.

Please note - the salt method is not intended for eKO mats.

  • Sustainability

The eKO Mat is a natural yoga mat made from sustainably harvested tree rubber. Unlike other rubber mats available today, the foaming agents used to create the eKO are non-toxic. What this means is that no toxic chemicals have gone into the manufacturing process to soften the rubber. Additionally, instead of using synthetic polyester for reinforcement, we have chosen to use a blend of polyester and natural cotton. According to both customer feedback and published yoga mat reviews, the eKO Mat is a high performance mat that is also good for the environment.

eKO® Yoga Mat 5mm - Thunder

The eKO Mat represents a bright future for the eco-friendly yoga mat. It leaves behind no footprint in landfills, but will definitely make a lasting impression in the studio. These natural rubber mats use a toxic-free softening process and are completely free of harmful foaming agents and plasticizers found in other mats.

Tri-Layer Technology offers an optimal combination of grip, durability, comfort, and performance:

Top Layer: Natural sealed-cell surface keeps out moisture and sweat from seeping into the mat and breeding bacteria.
Center Layer: Stretch-resistant scrim binds the unique layers together using a heating process which eliminates the need for toxic glues.
Bottom Layer: Thicker, bottom layer provides lightweight cushion and excellent loft for your practice! Discoloration can be a by-product of natural rubber products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great company I had a discolored spot on my first one- without hassle they sent a new one. They contacted me promptly. The Mat a 5mm Eko gray is fabulous - I have no smell from it and I don't slip while using. This is a great company with a great product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just awesome I definitely have the best mat in the yoga room. It's a heavy mat, because it is dense. I like the gray mat because it had a pattern on the top that helps it be extra sticky. I got the extra length even though I am super short, because I want to have space around me. I would recommend it. I love mine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highest quality and feel This mat has a different and much better feel from any mat I've used. It is firm and sticky offering just the right amount of cushion and grip. I was concerned that the odor might be strong but it went away completely about 15 minutes after opening. I highly recommend investing in this quality mat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than I expected I have only used the mat twice so far BUT it has been more than I expected based on the reviews I read: 1. The rubber smell is NOT that bad and it did not stick on my clothing. 2. The mat is sticky. I could not believe how well I was able to hold on to downward dog and really bend into it. I used my cheap yoga mat for 2 years and never thought I was able to hold DD that well. 3. It is heavy but not something that bothers me. I don't walk with it around town so I don't even use a strap for it. I definitely would get a strap or bag if that was the case. 4. The length is perfect for me (6'0")! 5. I should have done this 2 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I dig it! I’m a newbie and been practicing on this mat a few weeks. I was using a standard sporting goods variety mat before but as the level of yoga started wringing sweat out of my body, I new my old mat wasn’t going to work. I’m 6’1” 200ish pounds and felt cramped on a standard size mat. I dig this mat. I sweat a lot in a regular flow and don’t slip on this mat. I think the grip improves when I sweat on it. Some reviews on here say it’s slick ... I can only speculate that there is maybe some soap residue from their cleaning or de-rubber-smelling attempts. In my experience, the scent is there but it’s going away. I don’t notice it much anymore and I’ve used it 3-5 times a week for the last 3-4 weeks. I’m not too fussy about such things though - new stuff doesn’t smell new forever. It’s substantial and has some weight to it. Get a strap ... no big deal... but I’m not fussy.
