• Tri Layer Technology for optimal combination of grip, durability and slip-resistance.
Grip & Durability (Top Layer): ‘Rippled water’ surface texture is naturally grippy; the sealed-cell surface keeps out moisture (sweat) from seeping into the mat and breeding bacteria for better durability.
Dual Function Cushion (Bottom Layer): Thicker, bottom layer provides lightweight cushion and excellent loft and recovery for your practice!
Stretch-resistant Scrim (Center): Stretch-resistant scrim binds the unique layers together using a heating process which eliminates the need for toxic glues.
Natural & Earth Loving: Eco-friendly yoga mat is made from biodegradable, non-Amazon harvested, and natural tree rubber with non-toxic foaming agents and non-azo dyes.
To Clean: The eKO mat can be cleaned by wiping down the mat with Manduka’s Mat Restore Spray (a vinegar based solution) or a 50/50 mixture of water and organic apple cider vinegar. It is recommended that you DO NOT put the eKO mat in the washing machine, as it will encourage the material to break down (biodegrade). DO NOT soak or submerge in water and DO NOT use any type of soap for cleaning, as it will compromise the performance and integrity of the mat.
To Store: Do not leave the mat exposed to excessive amounts of sunlight. If wet, allow the mat to dry before rolling up.
Through Manduka's manufacturing process, the eKO Series mats are 99% latex free, and safe to use for people with latex sensitivities. However, if you know you are sensitive to even traces of latex then we recommend you purchase from our PRO Series yoga mats.
The eKO Lite Mat is made from sustainably harvested tree rubber. Unlike other rubber mats available today, the foaming agents used to create the eKO Lite are non-toxic. What this means is that no toxic chemicals have gone into the manufacturing process to soften rubber; when the eKO Lite mat is disposed of and biodegrades, it will not leave behind a toxic residue. Additionally, instead of using synthetic polyester for reinforcement, we have chosen to use a blend of polyester and natural cotton.

I love this mat. I've been using it 3-5 days per week for the past 12 months and it still looks and functions as if it is brand new. I never slip regardless of the type of practice I am engaged in, which is priceless. It had a smell when I first opened it that had to disapate, but that was to be expected. It is heavier than other mats I've used and it doesn't fit in a typical yoga bag, but the quality is so high I don't mind. If you practice or teach a lot and don't want to keep buying mats as they wear out, you should try this mat.
This mat is amazing. After the smell wears off in a few weeks it's the best! I have always had slipping issues and this mat solved that. I recently tore mine by accident in a bicycle accident but I've glued it together and kept on trucking. Using a standard mat now for me, is unacceptable.
after deciding to replace my 3rd yoga mat in 2 years, I looked for a higher quality mat and settled on the Manduka 79" inch. Smelled a little at first but soon forgot about that and now I don't notice any smell.
Pro - heavy duty, slip resistant, and fits my 72" frame.
Con - only con is that my frog icon came unglued and fell off. Not really a con at all.
I recently joined a yoga studio that has a hardwood floor, and my old cheap mat was sliding around like a flying carpet. Very unsettling. Last weekend, at Wanderlust (a yoga festival) in Santa Monica, I talked to a very friendly Manduka representative, at their booth, and was able to feel the surfaces of the different mats. The rubbery texture of the eKO (both top and bottom) seemed grippier than any mat I had ever felt. I went home and ordered the 79" eKO. I am 6'2" (my body itself is 74" long) and so I fit just perfectly on the mat. The width of the eKO feels perfect as well. If they made an 85", I would have bought that length instead, but honestly 79" is long enough. The mat arrived the very next day after ordering it. Wow! Right out of the wrapper, the grip was amazing. I don't see what people are talking about when they say it needs a break-in period. Next, I went to the faucet and filled my cupped hands with water. I poured a puddle onto the two spots where my hands go, then did a downward-facing dog. Absolutely no slipping at all, even with my hands in visible puddles of water. I weigh 250 pounds, and I have always had issues with other mats when doing kneeling poses. The eKO is not a very thick mat (about 5mm), but the padding is dense and feels substantial enough that my knees don't hurt at all when kneeling on it. It's a very solid "grounded" feeling mat. I am so impressed with this mat, and I've only had it for one day. My wife has a Jade mat, and while it too seems fine, the surface texture of this eKO seems much more solid and sturdy, like it will last a lot longer and not flake apart. I love the embossed "flowing water" surface of the eKO, which seems to clean up very easily by wiping with a damp washrag. The bottom of the eKO is very grippy, and has solved my "magic carpet" problem. About the smell, it does seem strong, but not entirely unpleasant. My wife said it smells "like spices," but could not narrow it down any more than that. After an hour doing asanas on the eKO, my hands smell like I have been inflating balloons at a children's birthday party. I expect the smell to dissipate in the first few weeks of owning this amazing mat. And as far as weight, I like the slightly heavier feeling of this mat. It feels like it becomes a solid part of the floor in a way that my older, cheaper, lighter-weight mat never did. I can already tell after just a day owning it, the eKO mat is awesome! Thanks for a great product, Manduka!
