Tri Layer Technology for optimal combination of grip, durability and slip-resistance.
Grip & Durability (Top Layer): ‘Sea Grass’ surface texture is naturally grippy; the closed-cell surface keeps out moisture (sweat) from seeping into the mat and breeding bacteria for better durability.
Dual Function Cushion (Bottom Layer): Thicker, open-cell bottom layer provides lightweight cushion. It can also be reversed to function as the top surface for more traction. Just flip over for a sweatier practice!
Stretch-resistant Scrim (Center): Made from biodegradable cotton and polyester blend; Binds top/bottom layer together with heating process, eliminating need for toxic glues.
Natural & Biodegradable: Made from biodegradable, non-Amazon harvested tree rubber with non-toxic foaming agents and non-azo dyes.
use & care
To Clean: We recommend using Manduka Mat Restore or a diluted organic cider vinegar wash (50/50) and a damp cloth or sponge. It is recommended that you DO NOT put the eKO Lite Mat in the washing machine, as it will encourage the material to break down (biodegrade).
To Store: Do not leave the mat exposed to excessive amounts of sunlight. If wet, allow the mat to dry before rolling up.
Through Manduka's manufacturing process, the eKO Series eco friendly yoga mats are 99% latex free, and safe to use for people with latex sensitivities. However, if you know you are sensitive to even traces of latex then we recommend you purchase from our PRO Series yoga mats.
green mission
The eKO Lite Mat is a natural yoga mat made from sustainably harvested tree rubber. Unlike other rubber mats available today, the foaming agents used to create the eKO Lite are non-toxic. What this means is that no toxic chemicals have gone into the manufacturing process to soften rubber; when the eKO Lite mat is disposed of and biodegrades, it will not leave behind a toxic residue. Additionally, instead of using synthetic polyester for reinforcement, we have chosen to use a blend of polyester and natural cotton. According to both customer feedback and published yoga mat reviews, the eKO Lite Mat is a high performance mat that is also good for the environment.

I love the lightness and stickiness of this mat.
I wish it didn't wear through so quickly.

I love the mat! Its lite and thin but still has enough cushion to it. Its nice to travel with because you can fold it instead of having to roll it up!

Having experienced my mom's cheaper yoga mats, I knew I wanted my first mat to be high quality and biodegradable. I chose the EkoLite over the Eko purely based on weight. The weight is perfect for me; not too heavy. The mat grips well too; only occasionally do I find my palms slipping. I am pleased that this purchase has held up well for nearly a year and a half. I recommend this mat.

Normally I prefer the PRO series, but recently I have brought the eKO Lite with me when I travel for work, and I have been really happy with it. It folds very easily, so you can put in you back pack. Most hotels have carpets, so you don't feel the thinness of the mat. I lay a towel on top of the mat when I get sweaty hands. I know Manduka sells an even thinner mat now, but I would definitely recommend this one for frequent travelers.

I bought this mat to travel with, and I'm very happy with it. It has good grip and plenty of cushion for me. It's thin enough that it is a bit stretchy on some surfaces and in some poses, but all in all it's an excellent mat to take on the road.

I've had this mat for about a year, and it's been a solid performer. It's still in great shape, after almost daily user, and working double duty as a picnic blanket on some days. I've had to clean it a few times (top and bottom), and I find that the cleaning brings back the grippiness I love in this mat. I definitely recommend for anyone who wants something eco-friendly, and good for travel that will stand up to plenty of abuse. It is thin, so if you need more cushioning, go with the eKO version.

Manduka sent this mat to me to review and I'm sure glad they did. It's super light and super durable. Couple it with the eQua Plus towel and it's a fairly unbeatable combination. The towel stays put and so does the mat. I can easily see it mat lasting me for years to come, which is important to me because I want my mat to be MY mat.
I travel frequently, and this mat has definitely become my go-to mat to take on the road. In fact, I've ended up liking it so much that it has also become my go-to mat as I progress throughtout my Yoga Teacher Training.
If you're looking for an all-around good mat that can be used in a variety of circumstances, then get the eKO Lite.

I bought this mat a little less than a year ago. It has held up quite well in that time I am starting to notice some wear with my nearly daily practice, I'm starting to get little tiny pieces of mat on the tops of my feet after repeated up to down dog transitions.
It has gotten nice and sticky with wear and my eQua towel does a great job drying off my hands when I get a bit too sweaty. It does move around a bit when it gets hot and during intense warrior sequences.
I do find that I have to roll it up a few times during extended kneeling poses and inversions for comfort because it is so lite but all in all it is a great mat, I will probably be upgrading in the next few months to the Pro or Pro lite (haven't decided yet) and then use my eKO lite as a travel mat.

I bought this mat in Pulse approx two weeks ago and really like it. I am still breaking it in. I've done two salt scrubs and left it out in the sun both times. It's definitely getting more sticky and I am not slipping as much. I sweat a lot, so I really need stickiness! I would like to upgrade to a PRO or PRO Lite in the future, but this one will hopefully tide me over for the foreseeable future.
