• Tri Layer Technology for optimal combination of grip, durability and slip-resistance.
Grip & Durability (Top Layer): ‘Rippled water’ surface texture is naturally grippy; the sealed-cell surface keeps out moisture (sweat) from seeping into the mat and breeding bacteria for better durability.
Dual Function Cushion (Bottom Layer): Thicker, bottom layer provides lightweight cushion and excellent loft and recovery for your practice!
Stretch-resistant Scrim (Center): Stretch-resistant scrim binds the unique layers together using a heating process which eliminates the need for toxic glues.
Natural & Earth Loving: Eco-friendly yoga mat is made from biodegradable, non-Amazon harvested, and natural tree rubber with non-toxic foaming agents and non-azo dyes.
To Clean: We recommend using Manduka Mat Restore or a diluted organic cider vinegar wash (50/50) and a damp cloth or sponge. It is recommended that you DO NOT put eKO™ natural rubber yoga mats in the washing machine as it will encourage the material to break down (biodegrade).
To Store: Do not leave the mat exposed to excessive amounts of sunlight. If wet, allow the mat to dry before rolling up.
Through Manduka's eco-friendly yoga mat manufacturing process, the eKO Series mats are 99% latex free, and safe to use for people with latex sensitivities. However, if you know you are sensitive to even traces of latex then we recommend you purchase from our PRO Series yoga mats.
The eKO Lite Mat is a natural yoga mat made from sustainably harvested tree rubber. Unlike other rubber mats available today, the foaming agents used to create the eKO Lite are non-toxic. What this means is that no toxic chemicals have gone into the manufacturing process to soften rubber; when the eKO Lite mat is disposed of and biodegrades, it will not leave behind a toxic residue. Additionally, instead of using synthetic polyester for reinforcement, we have chosen to use a blend of polyester and natural cotton. According to both customer feedback and published yoga mat reviews, the eKO Lite Mat is a high performance mat that is also good for the environment.

Very disappointing mat - would not recommend purchasing. I have a Black Mat Pro - which I like. This mat is supposed to be sturdy and provide exceptional grip. It offers neither. I can't hold a basic downward dog without both my hands and feed slipping - it gets worse with some amount of sweat. The mat is very thin (even for a travel mat), and bunches up on the ground.
Thank you so much for your review, Daniel! It is great to hear that you are enjoying your Black Mat PRO. We are happy that you have purchased an eKO Lite but are also sorry to hear that it has not suited your practice as well as the Black mat PRO! The eKO Lite is great for a light practice, but some yogis do find that since it is so light (only 4lbs) that it does not stay as rooted to the ground as a Black Mat PRO. In regards to the slipping, regularly cleaning the mat with vinegar and water will assist in keeping it as grippy as possible, and using a towel in sweaty situations will help keep you grounded during your practice. Thank you once again for sharing your wonderful feedback!
Great Mat! The horizontal texture is perfect to stop slipping. It's light weight makes it easy to carry to and from the studio.
Love this mat. I guess each mat is different to each individual. I haven't purchase the manduka pro mat; which I will, but the eko mat I love. I never slide off ; even when I sweat. I have the both two tone purple and bright pink eko mat.
I love my ecko thrive. It was good to go right out of the box. Has a super grip and I was surprised by the comfort of the cushion. I wipe daily with damp cloth as recommended which adds to your grip in my opinion. The smell went away after 2wks of daily use. I highly recommend.
After some research the eKO Lite became my first "real" mat and I absolutely love it. My yoga studio let me try both the Pro Lite and the eKO Lite but once I'd tried a few poses on the eKO there really wasn't a question. I did appreciate the lifetime guarantee on the Pro, as well as the thickness and texture, but I just didn't stick to it. The eKO Lite, although it is thin, is surprisingly springy and dense; I rarely double it up under my knees. Additionally I never have trouble sticking, even when my hands are recently washed or sweaty. The smell is strong, but I appreciate the fact that it's natural rubber. And after airing out and washing it has definitely toned down.
