Are Yoga Poses Ancient History?

LA Yoga Magazine and Manduka Ambassador Jill Miller invite you to an empowering and educational evening with Yogic Scholar Mark Singleton.
It's often said that yoga is a 5000 year old tradition from India. But what about the practices we do today? Is there really a direct link to the ancient past, or is the story more complicated? Today yoga is virtually synonymous in the West with the practice of āsana. What can we learn from the modern
history of āsana? And what does it mean for our practice today? Come along and find out what the debate is all about.

# Practice: Giving

Join Genevieve Fischer, Greville Henwood, Suzy Nece, Julie Rader, Jo Tastula, Marla Wedge, and Manduka Ambassadors Garth Hewitt and Angela Kukhahn for an all levels Donation yoga class to benefit Operation Shanti in building an orphanage in Mysore, India.
The first 20 people to arrive will receive a Manduka eQua Hand Towel + be entered to win a Manduka gift set.

4-6pm: All levels yoga class(some experience suggested)
6-8pm: Get your party on with a DJ, refreshments, auction and raffle

#Practice: Sacredness

Join Patrick Harrington and Manduka Ambassador Tina Porter for a challenging yet playful asana practice for all levels of yoga practitioners. Musical offerings will be provided by DJ Eyeam. Class will begin with a grounding meditation, and then guided into prana-fueling yoga instruction. The evening includes a silent art auction along with food and beverages. A percentage of revenue will support the Chanda Plan Foundation, whose goal is to help persons with disabilities heal their whole body. We hope you’ll join us on this auspicious adventure.
