Fifth grade students in San Diego County at Poway Unified School District’s Garden Road Elementary School are practicing yoga as part of their physical education program. With the donation of yoga mats from Manduka, the experience is even better! The fifth grade team has created an integrated PE program that combines Louis Martinez and Christy Embry’s general education classes and Kristina Cabrera’s Special Day Class. Mrs. Cabrera, RYT and business owner of Soleone “Doula Services, Yoga and Massage” (www.livesoleone.com), is bringing her passion for yoga to the school. The program has been well received and the students have shown a lot of enthusiasm! Some comment: “Yoga has helped me in my baseball games!” shares Tori enthusiastically, “I love yoga after a tough dance practice!” says Jennifer. Cody comments, “I really like learning the Sanskrit names to the poses.” The students and teachers at Garden Road are so grateful to Manduka for their contribution and look forward to the rest of the year on the mat!
