In 2004, Bart was invited by Elsie Matthijssens to his first yoga class. He was immediately hooked on Ashtanga Yoga. In the beginning, especially for the physical aspects, but later more for the control of the body and breath.
He has always been interested in the human body. From age 7 until age 31 he played water polo. He also did 8 years of athletics, 2 years of Aikido and recreational cycling. Bart then became a triathlete. In addition, to more fully understand how the human body works, he studied Biomedical Science at the University of Antwerp.
Bart is still amazed by the power of yoga. Besides small colds, he hardly gets sick anymore. What he appreciates the most about yoga, is that it truly quiets the mind and gives you inner peace.
